One of the few mainstream TV episodes all about feet and footwear. Highlights are at 4:00 (Gomer takes off his combat boot, thus showing off his black boot sock, in order to try on a lead boot). Until 10:29 his foot is stuck in it. At 11:03 Sgt. Carter's curiosity gets the best of him and he takes off his low-quarter, inadvertently displaying his crew-length black dress sock (ho hum). At 12:10 there's an intense attempt by Cpl. Slater (Ronnie Schell) to tug off the boot. Then Carter decides to have him powder his foot (12:34). Eventually, Gomer and Slater get the boot off Carter's foot (18:31). Then Carter's rival, Sgt. Charley Hacker (Allan Melvin), also tries on the boot but can't get it off, and begs Carter & co. to help him. (Disappointingly, we don't see Hacker take off his shoe to try on the boot.)
