Socks on Screen: The Middle: "Birds of a Feather"

http://www.thefutoncritic.com/listings/20151228abc04/

For my readers who are into women's sweaty feet: Frankie (Patricia Heaton) comes home after a hard day's work, kicks off her shoes and asks her husband Mike (Neil Flynn) to rub her white-socked feet. He refuses to rub her "smelly feet" but relents, covering them with an afghan and massaging them through two layers of fabric.

Later, Frankie and Mike are side by side on their bed talking. Mike has his big feet stretched out. He has on medium-gray socks (they look like casual socks to me). As he recounts getting his foot crushed by a machine down at the quarry and turning his toenails (or toes? I have to check) black, he offers to show Frankie and starts to peel off one of his mid-calf socks. But she urges him not to take off his sock.

What is it about the Hecks and their squeamishness towards feet? And Axl starts working as an office intern. He comes home from his own hard day and grumbles. There's a few nondescript shots of his black-socked feet.

The treat is always Mike's big, wonderful, manly feet, which we don't see enough of. If he can bare his soles and display them... .
