These are Nike Air Revolution hightops. They were the first to feature a window in the heel showing air cushioning. Our man (not the same man we've featured here so long) is a young doctor at a large hospital, constantly on his feet. He bathes every day and is scrupulous about his hygiene. Yet his feet perspire a lot, infusing his socks with sweat. The shoes sometimes don't come off for twelve hours, often more. The sneakers are getting dingy, especially around the instep and toe, and the laces are graying with dirt; he must have worn them for at least several months. The new-shoe smell is long gone, replaced with a ripe locker-room aroma. The shoes are never really aired out; the dirty socks are crammed in them after our man peels them off. (He's been known to wear the same pair two, three, even four days in a row if the schedule's hectic.)
